About this place
Tucked into the residential quarters of Sano in Adachi Ward, Tagosaku is an unpretentious neighborhood izakaya known for an expansive menu of drinking snacks. The food choices run wide, led by signature jumbo takoyaki and chewy potato takoyaki alongside crisp vegetable-strewn ramen salads and blackboard sashimi specials that shift with the day's catch. Griddled monjayaki and okonomiyaki are also prepared on the teppan, providing satisfying options whether snacking over drinks or sitting down for dinner.
The drink list holds its own distinctive appeal, highlighted by sharing kettles filled with roughly 7 glasses of chuhai or gyokuro green tea highballs. Fruit-forward sours are another fixture; choices such as raw pineapple—available with an optional drizzle of honey—damson plum, apricot, and grapefruit bring a tart, refreshing edge that cuts through rich griddled fare.
Inside, a dining counter faces the kitchen, while sunken tatami seating in the back allows small groups to sit back and linger comfortably. Tagosaku opens from 17:00 to 23:00, accepts reservations, and conducts business on a cash-only basis.
